Droneweek is a 200 hour celebration. A deep meditation, and a rigourous dismissal of tradition radio orthodoxies.
Starting with a new mix from arch house experimentalists Greta Cottage Workshop on the Saturday evening at 10pm, the week will include an all day live experiment on SUNDAY AUG 6TH featuring a continuous composition maintained by an amorphous collection of artists in the Soundart Radio studio including Grimbart, Oima Orchestra, Dark Mother Wood, Audio Hacking Club, Steve Cammack (Muhmur Radio) and more. This event is public from 2pm-10pm and all are welcome to pass through and observe some or all of the live drone performance. The afternoon will commence with Dark Mother Wood from 2pm, and will be followed by a live radio performance from local folk group THE DIAMOND FAMILY ARCHIVE.
The rest of the week will feature histories, documentary, all our favourite drones, new compositions, field recordings, and YOU?
We're still collecting material for Droneweek and welcome submissions from all. We're especially interested in long durational work that would not usually find a home on radio and field recording of known or unknown sounds. We are not specifically stating what drone is, but actively interested in exploring definitions and interpretations of it.
